FIRE DOOR INSPECTOR
- SRVO • £Competitive, aligned to experience • Remote / Field-Based – Bristol / South West
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a Fire Door Inspector to join SRVO’s Risk & Compliance division, carrying out fire door inspections across residential buildings throughout the Bristol and South West region.
This role is for someone who takes fire door inspection seriously, someone who wants to do the job properly, write clear reports, and help property teams understand what compliance actually looks like on the ground.
If you hold FDIS certification (or equivalent) and want stable work, good support, and a role where quality matters, this is a great opportunity to join a growing team with a strong reputation in the sector.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS
This is a field-based role where you will manage your own schedule, attend sites at pre-arranged times, and complete fire door inspections in a consistent and competent manner.
You will be expected to produce clear written reports with findings and recommendations, and to support property managers and clients with practical advice following inspection.
You’ll be trained on SRVO’s in-house survey application, but you must already have the technical competence to inspect timber fire doors, frames, seals and certification evidence confidently.
The role is primarily focused on the Bristol and South West area, with occasional travel and overnight stays depending on client needs.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
You’ll be successful in this role if:
- Your inspections are thorough, consistent and professionally delivered
- Your reports are clear, accurate and actionable for clients
- Property managers trust your judgement and come back to you for advice
- You manage your schedule well and keep inspections on track
- You help improve compliance outcomes across the buildings you inspect
HOW YOU’LL SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME
Most weeks, you’ll be:
- Inspecting timber fire doors and associated furniture across residential buildings
- Checking certification evidence including labels, CE marks and plugs
- Assessing frames/linings/casings and confirming suitability for the door rating
- Checking intumescent and smoke seals for compatibility and installation quality
- Producing full written reports with findings and recommendations
- Speaking with clients and RMC Directors to explain obligations and next steps
- Supporting property managers with technical queries following report delivery
- Reviewing associated services and reports where required to confirm compliance alignment
You’ll work from home between site visits, managing your inspections across the Bristol and South West region.

- Holds third-party certification in fire door inspection through FDIS (or equivalent)
- Has strong knowledge of timber fire doors and associated hardware
- Is confident completing inspections independently and consistently
- Produces accurate, well-written reports and takes pride in quality
- Communicates clearly with clients, property managers and RMC Directors
- Is organised, reliable and able to prioritise effectively

- Previous fire door installation experience
