Job Description:
The role of Paralegal (Debt Recovery) is responsible for supporting the company’s in-house legal function by instructing and liaising with external solicitors, managing landlord and tenant and civil litigation matters, and handling associated legal, administrative, and evidential tasks.
Key responsibilities and tasks include:
- Act as the key point of contact with external solicitors, issuing clear instructions and supporting cases through hearings and trial.
- Manage contentious Landlord & Tenant, civil litigation, and debt recovery matters from instruction to resolution.
- Drive case preparation by uncovering facts, gathering evidence, and building robust case files.
- Partner with Credit Control and Property Management teams to progress disputes quickly and effectively.
- Produce concise reports, carry out targeted legal research, and obtain witness and party statements.
- Provide hands-on administrative support, including managing correspondence, calls, and attending court when required.
Qualifications and Skills:
Candidates for this position should have the following skills and qualifications:
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Sound knowledge of law and the legal system
- Proficient in computer use, including electronic document management and filing systems
- Detail-oriented with strong accuracy and attention to detail
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with diverse personality types
