ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Graduate Building Surveyor to join a fast-growing and highly active Building Consultancy team, working across a diverse residential-led portfolio.

From day one, you’ll gain hands-on exposure to live instructions across defect diagnosis, planned maintenance, project delivery and building safety. You’ll work alongside experienced, MRICS-qualified surveyors, developing real technical capability while progressively taking ownership of your own work.

The work is varied, practical and aligned to your APC pathway, ensuring your day-to-day experience directly supports progression towards chartership.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

This is a delivery-focused role where you’ll learn by doing, with support from experienced surveyors.

You will:

  • Support and progressively take ownership of building inspections across a range of property types
  • Assist in preparing Planned Preventative Maintenance reports, lifecycle planning and budgets
  • Support project delivery, including Contract Administration and Project Management instructions
  • Assist in preparing specifications, tender documentation and contractor procurement
  • Support Building Safety Act related work, including inspections and data collection
  • Assist with reinstatement cost assessments and pre-acquisition surveys
  • Contribute to dilapidations, project monitoring and compliance-related instructions
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external clients

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

You’ll be successful in this role if:

  • You are developing strong technical knowledge and professional judgement
  • You take ownership of your work and deliver to a high standard
  • You build trusted relationships with colleagues, clients and contractors
  • You contribute effectively across a range of instructions and projects
  • You are progressing confidently through your APC pathway

HOW YOU’LL SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME

Most weeks, you’ll be:

  • Undertaking site inspections and gathering building data
  • Supporting the preparation of technical reports and surveys
  • Working on live projects alongside senior surveyors
  • Assisting with contract administration and project delivery
  • Supporting compliance and building safety-related work
  • Logging experience and competencies aligned to your APC

You’ll work in a hybrid way, balancing home working, site inspections and office collaboration, with flexibility and trust built in from the outset

WHO THIS ROLE IS FOR

This role suits someone who:

  • Holds a RICS-accredited Building Surveying degree
  • Is planning to start, or has recently started, the APC pathway
  • Wants a structured and well-supported route to MRICS
  • Is proactive, motivated and keen to learn
  • Enjoys variety and exposure to different types of work
  • Takes pride in producing high-quality work

EXPERIENCE THAT HELPS

  • Exposure to building surveying, construction or property environments
  • Understanding of building construction, pathology and relevant legislation
  • Awareness of contract administration and maintenance planning
  • Strong written communication and attention to detail
  • Commercial awareness and interest in project delivery
  • AutoCAD experience (desirable)

YOUR PATHWAY TO MRICS AT SRVO

We take chartership seriously and provide a clear, structured and well-supported pathway, including:

  • Dedicated MRICS-qualified supervisors and counsellors
  • Structured mentoring and regular progress reviews
  • Support with competency selection, case study preparation and ethics
  • Paid professional fees, exams and resits
  • Protected time for APC-related development and CPD

For most candidates, this typically results in chartership within 12–24 months, depending on experience and engagement.

Beyond MRICS, there are clear routes into senior technical roles, project leadership or broader advisory positions.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive salary aligned to experience and stage of development
  • Discretionary bonus
  • Hybrid working model
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Private medical insurance, life assurance and enhanced family leave
  • Fully funded APC, training and professional development
